Good morning and Happy Wednesday, PMA teachers!

This week’s edition of Wednesday Words contains a few different pieces of content for you, and each piece is of a different nature!

First off, a big “thank you” to all of you for coming out to the open house at the new location last week. We are absolutely ecstatic to have all of PMA’s operations under one roof with 16 rooms (and an actual breakroom), the opportunity to introduce group/ensemble classes, and the chance to continue expanding our brand through exciting events, which we will cover below!

As part of our continued quest for growth, PMA is happy to announce that we will be hosting/participating in some wonderful events! We are going to be taking part in the Second Saturday series in Peoria, in which we will be recruiting some teachers to come out and perform alongside several vendors to help showcase the academy. 10/14 will be the first date to watch for, and if you are interested in performing/helping out, please reach out to Laura or myself. We are also going to be partaking in a mini-concert for the Arrowhead Valley Retirement Community on 10/21 at 1:30pm. We will be taking 25 performers for this show (first come, first serve), and because of logistical constraints, we are unable to have any drum students performing. Voice, keys, violin, guitar, and ukelele are all welcome, and if you are planning to use a track, please submit it to the Office email by 10/7. Kids Fun Night is also going to be returning to Thunderbird in November, so please keep an eye out for details on it! Lastly, a recital update! We are aiming for early December, venue still TBD, but now is the time to begin preparations with your students! As soon as more information is available, I will be sending out an all-inclusive, informative, itemized email that will cover any and all topics pertaining to the show.

Lastly, we as management/front office would like to collectively address the topic of problematic students or lessons; you as the teacher are absolutely able to pause a lesson, alert the front desk, communicate with a parent, or fully end a lesson if your student is being aggressive, combative, or refusing to cooperate during their time with you. We understand that we have not set clear guidelines for you in times past, but know that we are here to support you in those situations. Please notify the front desk if any of your students are causing issues in lessons so we can figure out the best and most effective course of action. Our job is to provide quality music education, NOT to babysit or have to withstand behavioral outbursts that put us or our students in a compromised position. I will be composing a Miscellaneous FAQ document that will include other topics in this same realm to help clarify how/when/why/what we should do when certain situations arise.

As always, thank you for being the best teachers and people in town! Your efforts are shining brightly every day and making a difference on each student that comes through the door. Thank you for making PMA amazing!

Warmest regards,

Daniel Christensen
