Good morning and Happy Wednesday, PMA teachers!
This week marks Volume 10 of Wednesday Words, and I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read, absorb, and implement all of the content supplied each week. These emails can be a bit lengthy, but I want to ensure that every piece of information is as clear as possible, and that we are bridging the gap between admin and teachers in an effective manner. That said, this week will again revolve around recital information and important dates.
To begin…
WHERE: New Life Church, 8155 W. Thunderbird Rd.
WHEN: November 17 and November 18. Run time 5-9pm on 11/17, 9am-7pm 11/18.
WHAT: PMA Fall Recital! Hollywood theme- please feel free to dress up and help your students feel like stars!
HOW CAN I HELP?: Offer support/presence for your students! The more teachers we have on hand, the easier the whole process is. Having teachers available to help students warm up, calm nerves, assist with setting up on stage, accompany (if needed), and facilitate the on/off stage movements will speed up the entire function and eliminate any “dead air” or delays. Being there for your students makes a huge difference in their mindset; seeing you, talking to you, and knowing you are there for them offers them confidence, comfort, and a source of support in what can be an anxious time for them.
DEADLINES: PLEASE NOTE THESE DATES AS WE CANNOT ADJUST THEM! If your student is using a track, that track must be submitted BY OR BEFORE 11/1/2023. Your student’s recital information/recital signup also must be submitted BY OR BEFORE 11/1/2023. I currently utilize a word document that includes student name, song, instrument, time of song, solo/accompanist needed, and track needed. I will provide you with the method for uploading all of this information in a follow-up email.
WHAT ABOUT LESSONS?: Yes, PMA will still be holding lessons as normally scheduled. It is recommended that you inform your students of your teaching hours so they can plan their performance time accordingly. If you DO have students signed up during the times that you are scheduled to teach, I would advise letting them know that you will be unable to be there for their performance, and if they need to adjust their time for you to be there, it is an option. If that is not an option, we will also have teachers on hand (myself included) to help with setup/facilitating tracks/having music if needed. Any further questions can be directed to Laura or myself. Last week’s follow-up email included links to two recital documents, both of which can be found on the PMA Teacher Resource Page. I will attach a link below that will take you directly to the site, and with it, you can locate any document that has been sent out in these emails. Please be advised that 11/1/23 is a critical date
, as it is the deadline for mostly all submissions- tracks, student info, and enrollment. This date is not flexible due to the fact that we are using New Life Church house techs/crew, and they need time to build the program out for our recital. If you do have any further questions, Laura and I are happy to answer them. Please peruse the recital documents if you have not already done so, as they contain a plethora of helpful information and guidelines for us!
Thank you again for your hard work and impact on our students day in and day out. Busy season is upon us, so let’s power through and end 2023 with a bang!
